Cha Cha Music
The Cuban composer Enrique Jorrin slowed down Mambo music, and Cha Cha music was born! It is in 4/4 time and often has a tempo between 28 to 30bpm.
History of the Cha Cha
The Cha Cha is the descendent of the popular Mambo that was taking the United States by storm in the 1950s. The Mambo was very fast, so the Cha Cha was a welcomed alternative, all the fun with less difficulty. The term Cha Cha is from Haiti, meaning a bell clapper, and depicting the Cha Cha or ‘4 and’ steps.
